Military Experience at NYSD "Fanwood School" (subtitled)

My dad, Joe, shared his experience in the military program at NYSD "Fanwood" School in White Plains, NY back in 1950. There were many fascinating facts such as the undefeated Fanwood military band and Joe's first experience with Deaf teachers including Bob Davila who obtained his first job as a teacher there.

My Quotes

"It is not a risk for a Deaf child to grow up with ASL but it is gamble to have a Deaf child to grow up without ASL."

When you see someone say, "Your deaf child may be oral, signing, or bilingual"..."This is false because there is no such thing as signing OR bilingual since all of them are automatically bilinguals (regardless of different levels i.e. beginning bilinguals) considering the fact that they fingerspell, use literacy (English) and ASL at an early age regardless of not using spoken language."

"Unfortunately, adult bullies are like rotten potatoes. They are overgrown with a plethora of sprouts as they can spread their spoils to younger leaves and have a foul odor that they can stink up the whole drawer."
